The team has over 30 years’ experience developing projects in Africa across the energy, infrastructure, mining, and telecoms sectors, including with Black Rhino, Blackstone’s Africa-focused energy and infrastructure developer. Through the team and shareholders, GridX has developed >350 MW of solar projects globally.
HARRY LOPES
Chairman/Co-Founder
Harry founded and ran the award-winning top-20 UK solar developer Solstice Renewables. He established international solar and storage developer Eden Renewables in 2017 to bring the successful, community-focused model to the US, UK and international markets.
CHALKER KANSTEINER
CEO & Founder
Chalker has an infrastructure development background, with strong experience in power project finance. Prior to GridX, Chalker worked for Blackstone’s large-scale African energy project developer, Black Rhino.
GREG MENESES
Director of Operations
Greg leads GridX's asset holding company, with emphasis on legal and financial structuring. Greg has been an executive for Black Rhino as well as the SEACOM fiber optic cable project and the Gautrain Rapid Rail Project.
GEORGE DELACHEROIS DAY
Business Development
George leads our development activities in East Africa, and has over 15 years’ experience working in the region and in power generation. George was previously head of Business Development at Cluff Geothermal where he secured a development license for 400MW of geothermal in Ethiopia, as well as project managing a drill contract in Kenya.
RYAN DUNN
Project Development
Ryan has led partnerships and market entry for technology companies, managed deal diligence for infrastructure investments in Africa and South America, and worked on new models for international development in West Africa. He holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a B.A in African Studies from the College of William & Mary.
GEORGE MOSOMI
Project Manager
George is a renewable energy engineer with more than 10 years’ experience. He has worked in marine, wind and solar energy developments in Africa, Europe, South East Asia, and South America, and at the Energy and Petroleum Regulator in Kenya. He holds a MSc. in Renewable Energy Development from Heriot-Watt University and BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi.
DEVOE ARNOLD
Associate
Devoe has a background working in microfinance and human wildlife conflict across East Africa and Latin America. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Government and Legal Studies (International Relations) and Neuroscience from Bowdoin College.
PHILIPO MOLLEL
Project Coordinator
Philipo has experience in finance, data analytics, and project management from various firms in sub-Saharan Africa, including PWC and ALU, School of Business (ALUSB). He holds a BEng in Electrical Power Systems from Glasgow Caledonian University (in partnership with the African Leadership University, ALU).
